OPERA FOR KIDS!

Shoestring Opera’s mandate is to bring the magic of opera to children everywhere. Shows are designed to fit both school and theatre settings. Using minimal props and costuming, stories and music from classic operas are brought to life in a lively and accessible child-friendly format.
Using current, plain English and engaging narratives, the shows are non-didactic, encourage the use of the imagination and offer a meaningful and relevant experience for children. They are all about the joy of story-telling and the joy of great music.
Shoestring Opera’s repertoire includes two operas. The Shoestring Magic Flute is based on Mozart’s Magic Flute and is available in both English and in a bilingual English-French version. Our new opera for children, Bozo’s Fortune is based on Puccini’s comic opera Gianni Schicchi.
